1. Product Design – Reduce Reuse, Recycle, Reimagine. The Closed Loop Design Process
• Top Quality medical grade resins and advanced manufacturing processes allow the design on labware using less plastic while exceeding crucial performance requirements. The Eclipse Refill System cut waste by up to 90% compared to prepacked tips and use 10-30%less packaging other than popular refills
2. Manufacturing – Eliminate Waste and Maintain Highest Quality & Sterility
• Advanced all-electric injection moulding machines reduce energy consumption by up to 60% compared to hydraulic machines. Over 90% of Labcon products are moulded, assembled, packaged, and distributed from the Petaluma manufacturing facility with remaining components sourced from local partners within 160 kilometers. Since the year 2000, we have reduced the waste per kilogram in making our products by 86% per case.
• Total renewable energy including solar, wind, geothermal, biogas and small hydro-electric, made up 54% of Labcon’s 2017 energy profile (on-site solar plus purchase electricity)/
3. Energy Use – Maximum Renewable Content. Reduce Carbon
• An 800 kW roof-top solar system installed in 2011 was expanded with another 70 kW in late 2013 and now produces a full 30% of Labcon’s electricity needs on-site. Total renewable energy including solar, wind, geothermal, biogas and small hydro-electric now makes up 61% of Labcon’s 2019 energy profile (on-site solar plus purchased electricity). Our 2024 goal is to operate with 65% renewable energy. In 2019 we are operating with 61% total renewables (on-site solar plus purchased electricity from renewable sources).

Eclipse™ standard surface pipette tips include as standard many features available from other suppliers only as special upgrades. All the Eclipse™ tips we make are made of high quality 100% pure virgin medical grade polypropylene so you won’t find recycled plastics in our tips. We pre-test the resin to ensure no extractables are present. Every lot is lab tested and certified free of detectable Nuclease (Rnase/Dnase), Adenosine Tri-phosphate, and Endotoxin (pyrogen) contamination.
Labcon’s patented Eclipse™ pipet tip refill packaging delivers the maximum amount of pipet tips using the least amount of packaging than any other major supplier. Eclipse is over 60% usable product.
Centrifuge Tubes
- Centrifuge tube graphics are printed with UV cured inks instead of solvents which significantly reduces the emissions of harmful and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
- Most aerosol have been eliminated and replaced by biodegradable citrus-based cleaners.
- The IntegraPack® centrifuge tube packaging is 25% smaller than competing brands while delivering the same number of centrifuge tubes
